job, soundwave

Hellloooo,

So.... I have a job! It's doing Server Support/Sys Admin type stuff, same as i've been doing for the last few years. The company sounds like it should be a nice place to work. I start next Friday, so i still have a little bit more time before i start but should be good! It's also only like 15-20min drive or so from here which is good! :) Shouldn't take too long to get there, that's a plus, i could take public transport, however it's train, bus, bus or something and it was going to take like 1.5 hours so chances are i'll be taking the car. Thou i'll have to fight Tim for it, heh :P Coz he also just got a job! Grats to him! He starts on tuesday, so i'll have a couple of days here by myself which will be strange.

Soundwave was fucking amazing! Faith No More were EPIC! Jimmy Eat World were great! Real Big Fish had an awesome stage presence and were amazing as well! Cluch, and all the other bands we saw were pretty great too! The only disappointment was Jane's addiction, sadly a lot worse live than their music, so that's always a sad fact for a band - they should be better! But it was a good day, caught up with a few people. Didn't get to catch up with some because there was so many people there and the phone tower was shitting itself so couldn't really contact anyone but was still a great day! Had a few celebratory drinks afterwoods as well!

I still can't believe i saw RBF live let along freeking Faith!!!! It was amazing!!! So many people!

Also got to catch up with a few more friends before we left which was good. :D

Other than that the flight down was not too bad, it's fairly long Brissy to Melb (2.5 hrs), ok i guess not THAT long but still, long enough heh, but there weren't any hassles. However on the way back i had some irritating 5 year old kicking my chair half the way back. What kind of irresponsible parent falls asleep during a 2.5 hour flight and just leaves their 5 year old to annoy the person in front? great parenting O.o I think the kid just wanted some attention, however he should probably have been kicking his mother not me, as any attention he got from me was not going to be very polite. Underage gigs take out enough of my kid patients i didn't have much left over for him, especially when i was already sore, kicking me did not help the situation. lol

But all in all it was a great trip! Best few days ever, we are both employed and saw some awesome bands!

Spiders, Bats, Birds & Possums

Hey,

So it seems our courtyard is filled with animals.. Our giant golden orb seems to have disappeared and has been replaced with 3 slightly smalled golden orbs. I think i preferred the one big one to the 3 slightly smaller ones - Their multiplying O.o. Other than that we saw bats the other day!! We also believe there are birds living in one of the trees and maybe a possum. Whats with all the animals, insects, arachnids, etc it's only a little courtyard? :/ Oh well not much we can do i suppose, 'cept try and avoid them - the spiders are way to high to do anything about.

Other than that i can't wait till Friday!! Soundwave! Can't believe i get to see Faith!! :o! and Jimmy again and everyone else! Get to catch up with lots of people too which will be good.

Byeeeee

Spiders, cockroaches & ants..

Hey,

Before we moved up we were warned of the spiders (perticularly Golden Orbs) & Giant cockroaches. So far we have seen a couple of these giant cockroaches, who knew that could get that big? Sheesh.. We also now have 2 resident Golden orb spider in our courtyard, from what i can assume a big lady one and a smaller male one. Here is an example pic of the ones in our courtyard - creepy looking. Seems everyone guessed right before the move :oÞ heh. Other than that when we moved in we had those tiny little black ants in our courtyard (every house i seem to live in has them in the courtyard), thou the bad part was at the start they were also going into our bedroom (who knows what interested them in there - no food or anything!), but i'll tell you, waking up with ants crawling all over you and all through your bed is one of the most horrible things i've ever experienced, especially for a week or so straight. At least they seem to stay outside now so i can deal.

Other than all the creepy crawly things around the house we've just been finding our way around the area. I like this area it's nice, Moreton Bay is really perty. Had lunch down there for Tim's bday. And just have been looking for work and going to job interviews and things. Need to go to the theme parks again, didn't get to see everything at Sea World last time (ran out of time) but we have our passes till July so can go whenever, and need to go down to the gold coast to swim and stuff, so much to do! And not as much time as you would think to do it in even thou i am currently unemployed (which will hopefully soon be rectified - going a little stir-crazy - need to fix stuffs heh)

Going to Melbourne in a week for Soundwave, can't wait! Faith No More! zOMG! And whats awesome as well is My Chemical Romance cancelled (works for me coz i am not a fan - have seen them before and they weren't very good) and they were replaced with Jimmy Eat World! w00t! So Faith, Jimmy, Reel Big Fish, Jane's Addiction, Placebo, and others all in one gig, who can complain? So excited!

Other than that have everything has been going pretty well. Have my regular Syd trip coming up, have flights down and back in the one day. Should be alot easier than 3 hours up and 5 hours back driving from Canberra. 8 hours in a car in one day is more tiring than you would think, and probably costs more in petrol than the plane tickets. Think its only about an hour or so each way on the plane so much quicker and easier :)

This has gotten really long, so i guess that'll be all :)

unemployed life

Hellooo,

So i'm currently still unemployed, it's not so bad, enjoying the break thou a job would be nice because i'm getting a bit restless. I'd like a server support/system admin job preferably but alternatively i'm thinking anything would be nice and that way i can focus more on study. Thinking of putting some effort in and making sure i get MCP, there's a few specifically i want. MCDST (the desktop support one) first then on to MCITP the full one, preferably in the sys admin area. But it all will take time. I also think it's time to update my servers at home from Server 2003 and Exchange 2003 to Server 2008 and Exchange 2010. Got copies so that's my job for the next little while, get them installed and configured and play around with them a little. Still haven't got the network running upstairs to my study so i guess that's the first step. However i have a job interview tomorrow so hopefully i get it, see how i go :). Thinking of also maybe putting some more effort into updating my coding knowlege. Update my HTML knowledge, as well as get some more ASP, PHP, etc and maybe look at learning .NET or something. Ah, so many things to learn!

Well other than being unemployed, looking for work and looking at the millions of things i can study I've basically been hanging around, watching too much tv/movies and playing too much WOW and drinking too many slushies but all is good. I even walked to the 7-11 the other day rather than driving to get the slushie, so thats an improovement. :D

Have a friend from Canberra who also just moved here so i have another friend up here too, which is awesome!! Now just need an income so we can go out and do stuffs!

Until next time...

Interviews & Theme Parks

Hellooo,

It's been a hectic few weeks, mostly the house stuff is organised ('cept for getting our rent reduction which we were supposed to have by last Friday at the latest - so we have to go visit the tenancy advice chick again when we have time - been so busy!)

I've now had 5 job interviews, one of which i declined because it wasn't for a tech job, it was for a IT Recruitment Consultant, i thought i would at least give it a try and see what it's all about - it's something that has always sort of sparked my interest. Glad i talked to the guy i talked to he was very nice and honest and the role just wouldn't suit me for a few reasons, but i won't bother going into all of that. Hopefully i will however get one of the other 4 jobs! If not, i will keep applying and see what happens and hopefully i get one soon!

But FINALLY after being here for like 3 weeks now i gets to goto the theme parks!! w00t! Haven't been for like 2 years since we came up for a holiday and they're so much fun! Got a QLD VIP pass so we can go unlimited times to the 3 (Movie World, Wet 'n' Wild, or Sea World) until the 30th of June 2010, which is awesome! :D.. Going to Movie World tomorrow and hopefully Sea World (turtles w00t!) on Friday.

Also, finally unpacked the study today so we could print the tickets, and it's been so long since we've printed anything that the ink has dried up! So we had to find a net cafe that was open and quickly drive there and print the tickets so we can go tomorrow, lol! But study is all unpacked, not yet put together and no network running upstairs as of yet, but that's another job all on it's own.. And yeah i'll get around to migrating the site to Host Militia soon (hopefully!), need to not be so busy.. How is it possible to be so busy while unemployed? heh. I won't be able to migrate to my house until after 6 months and we move into a new place (only staying here for 6 months) but i'll spend this 6 months getting the environment ready, and hopefully in the next few weeks i'll be over to Host Militia.

Bed time so i can get up and goto Movie world.. w00t!, Nite!

Move to Brissy

Hi all,

I haven't been able to move my hosting over to Host Militia yet because Tim accidentally set my new ISPs emails to my pacgurl email and i couldn't because i was waiting for an email from them. Once all this move shit is over and get some time i can actually do the transfer!

I just moved to Brisbane! It's been a really hectic 2 months or so! Everything that could possibly go wrong in the move other than us and the truck crashing on the way went wrong (of course! - heh)!

We are now here, we have all of our stuff, all slightly damaged by the retard removalists that spent all their time arguing with each other and not concentrating on what they were doing but it's all here.

Only problem is we are not unpacking yet (yes we've been living out of boxes for 2 weeks - not cool!) - reason is when we moved into this house it was dirty and full of mould! How freeking disgusting is that! So a few days to a week later the idiot landlords actually cleaned the house, after much getting cranky. Now 1-2 weeks later the shower has been regrouted so it's clean and has no more mould and the blind guy is finally here now to clean the mould off the blinds!

Called the landlords last thursday afternoon after nothing had still been done about the shower and blinds and they said they would look into it. Still hadn't heard anything by thursday night so we dropped into their office and they advised after our phone call they 'thought about' doing something about it. We asked why they hadn't either done anything or 'thought about' doing anything for the previous 6 days! No reason of course. After telling them what laws they had broken we were asked to leave the office, not because they cared about breaking the law, only because another tenant behind us heard that they had broken the law. Morons!

The next day we spoke to a tenancy advice person and breached them for not fixing anything and after the convosation thursday night and the breach they are finally doing something! Thou it shouldn't come to that!

However, i don't want to be stuck here for another 6 months with landlords like that! They have posed a huge health risk to us (i know whats with everyone trying to make us sick lately! - bug?) with not providing a clean and fit to live in house when we moved in (ie it was dirty and full of mould) and it then took them almost 2 weeks to fix it! And they only fixed it after we got cranky and told them they had broken the law to start with!

I'm just worried if we stay here and anything else breaks it's not going to get fixed. I'm also worried that cleaning the blinds isn't really good enough. They were full of mould, how can you clean that off? I don't want to get sick!

Also, when i move into a normal rental place i take a photo of every dent, scratch and anything wrong with the property, i've never had to take more than 50-60 photos. I took around 400 photos of this place and i still don't think i got 75% of the things wrong with this house and it took all day! I'm worried that when we leave they are going to blame us for everything that was here before we moved in!

I just hate that i have been put into this situation. I put in so much effort for this move to go smoothly and absolutely nothing has gone smoothly.. And i haven't even mentioned before we got here.. that'd be another 10 pages!

Have to talk to the tenancy chick again and see if we can get these retards to pay for our moving costs due to their fuck up. Which i think they should have to pay. Last time we spoke to her she said we have a chance but wouldn't really talk about it because Tim said he wanted to stay and i said i wanted to leave and she said we have to agree before she would talk about it anymore. So we need to go back :/

Hopefully we can get them to pay and get out of this horrible place, or at lease possibly go on month by month so we arn't stuck here for another 6 months!

Oh well, see what happens.. I'll try and keep this up to date.. I stopped posting because i was going to roll over then couldn't but i guess i'll keep posting now until i can actually roll over.. Too much shit going on over the last two months!! :/

Bug/Moth in Woolworths Salad

Hi all,

I bought a salad at Woolworths on Saturday 14th of November 2009 and it had a bug/moth in it!

I am just glad that i noticed the bug in time, as i was putting the salad on a bread roll and only realised at the last minute, i was almost done with getting what salad i wanted before eating my roll. So if i had of wanted one less lettuce leaf on my roll i would have eaten bugged salad!! So gross!

Also, All Woolworths would do is refund the money for the salad, give me a few free rolls and turkey to replace what was ruined and a $20 Woolworths voucher, nice compensation for the huge health risk you imposed to me guys.. NOT!

It seems these things continue to happen to Woolworth's salads so i personally will never be buying one again. The amount of times i have read on the news in the last year that someone has either found some kind of bug or even a frog in their salad from Woolworth's is disturbing!

It really is a worry that one of our biggest supermarket chains can continue to sell salads with these ongoing issues. You can only imagine that not many of these things actually get reported to the news (because i know mine didn't!).

I think it really is time for the Health department to look into the factory/warehouse were these salads are packaged and see WTF is actually going on there.

And i would recommend to everyone not to buy a Woolworths salad ever again!

Bug - Bug2
